Breast Uplift Surgery
Available at Amrit Clinic, Mulund West, Mumbai. Every treatment starts with an in-person assessment.
A breast uplift raises and reshapes the breast by removing excess skin and repositioning the nipple, without significantly changing size. It corrects descent after pregnancy, breastfeeding or weight change. It does not add volume — if you also want to be fuller, that needs an implant alongside it.
Key facts
| Anaesthetic | General |
|---|---|
| Changes | Position and shape, not size |
| Scars | Permanent; extent depends on degree of lift needed |
| Off work | 1–2 weeks |
| No heavy lifting | For about 6 weeks |
| Longevity | Ageing and gravity continue — some descent recurs over years |
Lift, volume, or both
These are separate problems and it helps to be clear which you have. If your breasts are the size you want but sit lower than you want, you need a lift. If they are in a reasonable position but you want more volume, you need an implant. If they are both low and deflated — the common picture after breastfeeding — you need both, and that is a bigger operation with more scars and a higher rate of revision.
Scar length scales with how much lift is required. A small correction may need only a scar around the areola; a significant lift needs the vertical and often the horizontal component too. Wanting a big lift with minimal scarring is not a trade that is available.
It is not permanent
A lift resets the position; it does not stop the process that caused the descent. Gravity, ageing, skin quality, weight change and any subsequent pregnancy all continue to act. Most people retain a clearly better shape for many years, but some recurrence of descent over time is expected rather than a complication.
Wearing proper support, maintaining a stable weight and not smoking all help the result last.
Risks
Unfavourable or widened scarring, asymmetry, altered nipple sensation, and recurrence of drooping over time are the commonest concerns. Delayed healing where scars meet is fairly common and usually settles. Partial or rare complete loss of the nipple from compromised blood supply is a serious complication, substantially more likely in smokers and in larger lifts. Infection, bleeding, seroma and blood clots are possible. Where a lift is combined with an implant, the revision rate is higher than for either operation alone.
