Café-au-Lait Spot Treatment

Overview

A café-au-lait spot is a flat, evenly light-brown patch of pigmentation, usually present from birth or early childhood. A single spot is common and usually of no medical concern, but several spots together can occasionally be a marker for an underlying genetic condition and are assessed accordingly before any cosmetic treatment is discussed. Response to laser is variable and less predictable than for sun-induced pigmentation, and recurrence after treatment is common.
