Gigantomastia is a rare, extreme form of breast enlargement — sometimes hormonally driven, sometimes linked to pregnancy — that goes well beyond what a standard breast reduction addresses, both in the volume of tissue involved and in the severity of the physical symptoms it causes. It requires a larger reduction with particular attention to blood supply and nipple viability, and is planned and consented as its own distinct procedure.
