Dr. Dhirendrakumar l. Patil is a senior cosmetic surgeon in mumbai. He received his reconstructive, plastic and cosmetic surgery training at l.t. Medical college, sion. After his training he served as an associate professor there before starting his private practice in 1989. He was also a teacher for m.ch. (plastic surgery), mumbai university. He had his training in aesthetic lasers at los angeles, u.s.a. He is also a fellow of international college of surgeons, chicago, u.s.a. Dr. Dhirendrakumar patil was awarded the “youngest plastic surgeon award” by association of plastic surgeons of india in 1984. In the year 1986, he received “glaxo award” for original research work in plastic surgery by a junior plastic surgeon. He has presented number of scientific research papers at regional, national and international conferences. He has chaired scientific sessions and given guest – lectures- in many national and international conferences & has been a faculty in many other conferences. He has published quite a few scientific papers in national and international journals. He is a member of various regional and national scientific organizations and societies. He is now majorly into cosmetic surgery and aesthetic laser treatments in his private practice. He has devised a new surgical technique for mega liposuction, augmentation chelioplasty & gynaecomastia (male breast enlargement). He has also developed newer applications of the aesthetic lasers. His main area of interest and skill is in mega liposuction and aesthetic laser treatments. He started doing laser treatments in the year 2001 after formal training in los angeles. He is one of the few having multiple aesthetic laser treatment centers & has more than 25 tie up laser centers presently across maharashtra state. He has a vast experience in this field of using various combinations of lasers to give the best results. He has developed many new application of lasers for many unsolved problems like erasing scars; stretch mark, 100% elimination of tattoo.
He is now using laser treatment in basic health care. Recosma laser technology is the future of wound management. He predicts that with early; large scale use of recosma laser it is possible to prevent at least 50% of amputations due to diabetic wounds.
